Quick Start Guide
In just a few minutes, go from zero to your first live-graded practical session. Every step below is achievable with the free version.
1. Create your levels
Before anything else, define your levels (e.g. Grade 10, Grade 11 Advanced) from Management → Year Structure → Levels.
These are the levels you are responsible for this year.
Your classes and protocols will be linked to them. See the detailed guide for the full walkthrough.
2. Create your class and add your students
In Management → Classes, tap New class, give it a name and link it to the level you created in the previous step.
A class with no students isn’t much use: add your student list next, either one by one or by importing an existing list (CSV). See the detailed guide for the full walkthrough.
(the free version allows 1 class — plenty to test every feature of the app)
3. Create your room and its layout
In Management → Rooms, create your room, then draw its layout (seating/workstation arrangement) — see the detailed guide for the full walkthrough.
4. Create a protocol
A protocol defines what students will do during the session. Two types exist:
- Question type — graded directly, requires nothing beyond the level created in step 1. This is the fastest path to get started.
- Competency type — requires first creating a competency set, since the protocol builds on it. A bit more setup, but just as accessible in the free version.
(the free version allows 2 protocols: 1 of each type — enough to explore both approaches)
For this guide, we’ll go with a question-type protocol, the most direct path. Once the protocol is created, use the Auto button instead of adding questions one by one: enter the number of questions and points per question, and they’re created instantly, numbered (Q1, Q2…), and remain individually editable afterward.
See the detailed guide for the full walkthrough.
5. Create your practical session and run the live session
A session links the class, room and protocol you just created — this is what you’ll actually run in class.
From the Sessions tab, select the class, room and protocol, then tap Start.
You can then tap each workstation in the room to assign students and begin grading. Move between students and grade as you go — no stack of papers to mark that evening. See the detailed guide for the full walkthrough.
6. Check the results
Once the session is over, the Results tab brings together every grade, by class and by protocol. See the detailed guide for the full walkthrough.
